Instructor Orientation: Add an Announcement

Announcements can be added by using the Course Navigation menu or from the course Home page.


Adding an Announcement using the Course Navigation Menu

Click the Announcement link from the Course Navigation menu.

Click the Make an Announcement button.

You will be guided to the Create Announcement Screen where you will be able to create your announcement:

  1. Topic Title Field
  2. Rich Content Editor – Allows you to format your content
  3. Announcement Options
    • Attach Files – You can attach files to your announcement.
    • Delay Posting – If you would like to create an announcement but do not want it to display immediately, select the Delay Posting check box, then select the Calendar icon and set the date and time using the calendar tool or manually enter a date and time.
    • Users must post before seeing replies – If you would like students to reply to an announcement, checking the checkbox next to this feature will enable it so student must first reply to an announcement before seeing other replies.
    • Enable podcast feedyou may subscribe to the Announcement RSS Feed in your course and receive announcements via any RSS feed reader.
  4. Save

Your announcement will be posted and can be viewed, unless you selected the Delay Posting option.

Adding an Announcement from the Home Page

From the Home page (accessed from the Course Navigation), click the New Announcement button located in the Sidebar.
