Add Questions to a Question Group
There are three options available when adding questions to your quiz:
- New Question - build a new question from “scratch”.
- Question Title
- Question Type Options
- The number of points the question is worth (quiz totals are calculated based on combined total of questions)
- Question Text (Use the Content Editor to include text, video, images, equations, or flash activities)
- Question response options
- Feedback received at the end of the question
- Select the Update Question button or the Add Another Answer link.
- New Question Group - creating groups allows you create a quiz with certain types of questions and how many questions to ask per group, and the point value. For example, you can create an exam that asks x number of T/F, Multiple Choice, Essay, and Extra Credit questions.
- Group Name
- Number of questions to be randomly selected from the group
- Number of points assigned to each question
- Create Group
Please Note: The option to Link to a Question Bank to reference existing pools of questions is available to you. When using question banks, be sure to make changes within the Question Bank before linking the quiz to the question bank. Although you can make changes to the question bank after a quiz is published, students who have already opened or completed the quiz will not see any of the changes, which may affect their grades. It is important to understand that questions linked to a question bank cannot be regraded since they may be used in more than one question bank. As a result, the use of Question Banks is not recommended as it will limit the grading functionality available to you.
If a question bank is used, the system will reference your chosen bank of questions as each student takes the quiz. Each student will receive a random selection of questions pulled from the bank. These questions will not be in sequential order and will be presented randomly each time the quiz is taken or previewed. You can define how many questions you want to randomly select and the number of points assigned to each question.
Please see the Use the Re-Grade Tool Help Page for more information on regrading. - Find Questions - Allows you select existing questions from your course for a quiz. You may also create question groups which include existing questions from your course.
- List of question banks that exist in your course.
- List of questions in the selected test bank. Use the Select All link to add all questions to the quiz or manually select the questions you would like to add to the quiz.
