The syllabus page within your course shows a table-oriented view of the course schedule and the basics of course grading. You can add any other comments, notes, or thoughts you have about the course structure, course policies, your personal course syllabus, or anything additional information that will be beneficial to students.
Add a Syllabus
To access the course syllabus, select Syllabus from the Course Navigation.
From the View Syllabus screen:
- Edit Syllabus Description – Edit or Add text, images, files to the syllabus description
- Calendar and Weighted Assignment Groups – Display information about course events and grading. The assignment group information can be edited in the Assignments feature while the Calendar information can be edited in both the Assignments and Calendar features. Any changes made will be reflected in the Syllabus.
- Syllabus Description – Post your course description, a brief introduction, class guidelines, weekly reminders, and other important information. You can copy content from Word documents directly into the Rich Content Editor or create original content inside of the Rich Content Editor. You can also link to your Syllabus by uploading it into Files.
- Assignment List – Each course assignment or event will be listed in the bottom half of the Syllabus page with the undated items appearing at the bottom. Changes to dated events can be made in both the Assignments and Calendar areas of the course and will be automatically updated in the Syllabus.

Edit the Syllabus
From the View Syllabus screen, click Edit Syllabus Description to edit the syllabus description and/or add text, images, or files.
Edit the syllabus description using the Rich Content Editor [1].
- To add files to your syllabus description click Files [2] from within the Content Selector. From there, you can upload a new file or select from the files you have uploaded previously. Click and highlight the text in the Rich Content Editor you want users to click on to download [2a]. Click the file in the Content Selector [2b] and the text will turn blue noting the link is downloadable.
- To add images or links to your syllabus description, click Images or Links from the Content Selector. You can create a new link or upload an image or select previously uploaded links or images. Click on the link or image and it will be added to the content area.
Select the Update Syllabus button when finished [3].
