Instructor Orientation: Add a Module

What is a Module?

Each course is broken down into Modules. Modules are displayed as Tabs that can be expanded or collapsed. Modules allow you to organize your content to help control the flow of your course. A module is essentially the course outline.

Each module can contain files, discussions, assignments, quizzes, and other learning materials that you would like to use. In addition to the modules that have been provided within your course, you may create your own modules.

Items can also be easily added to existing modules within your course. (The help pages that follow will provide instruction on how to add various types of content to your modules.) Course content can be added to multiple modules or iterated several times throughout an individual module. Modules can be easily organized using the drag and drop feature. Elements within the modules can also be reorganized by dragging and dropping.

By default when you enter your course, you will see the Home page which will be displayed as the Course Modules/Section - unless the Home page layout is changed. You may also access the Modules from the Course Navigation.

Modules

Course Modules

  1. Create Module:  allows you to create a new module within your course
  2. View Progress: allows you to view the progress of your students and see how they are progressing through the course
  3. Expanded Module:  expands the module so you can view all content that is within the module
  4. Collapsed Module:  collapses the modules so that module content is hidden and you only see the Module title
  5. Edit Module: allows you to add content, edit the module name or delete the module
  6. Edit Sections:  allows you to edit, delete, or indent the title
  7. Move Items: allows you to move modules or items

Modules can also be used to:

  2. Track student progress through a sequence of learning activities
  3. Organize course content by unit, day, week, topic or Outcome
